Tonight we celebrate Blue Moon. The second Blue Moon in a month and we laugh in its glow as reminder Mothers rhythm pays no heed to the calendars of man. Even the sun whose aspect they try to map gives little credence to the calendar of man as it too follows the rhythm of Mother. Let us celebrate her ancient rhythms tonight as Daughters and Witches.

I am Mary Mother of God, I am Mari Goddess of Basque and I am all things in between. I am the Trinity of Christianity, I am the Trinity of the Goddess and I am every name ever envisioned in seeking God, Goddess or Divinity. I am the lessons you share as my daughters in Sacred Space as you celebrate the blessed myths of me. I am here with you as you still bear witness today of my suppression, abuse, misuse and maligned by those who would use the power of faith for control of the masses and turn away from the abundance of religious tolerance.

I am known throughout history and predate Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism or any other organized religion of the modern world. Remains of my temples and my images have been found on every continent and in every country the world over. My worshippers have suffered crucifixion, rape, the rack, stoning, skewering, stampede, burning, drowning, disembowelment and I am still not denied.

One King after another has stood upon me claiming my body as their own, possessing my land, my riches and the taste of any bloodshed in the conquest only serving to feed the hunger for more power. One God after another they name in my replacement, their armies killing all who do not follow their God and submit to their dominion. As history tells the story so does the story live today.

It is you my daughters that must be strong enough to remember me. You must pass to your daughters and on to their daughters the truth of the Great Mother. You must share with your daughters the sacredness of life, the earth, the plants and the animals. You must strive to be a keeper of my mysteries, a whisperer of the ancient wisdom, a tender at the sacred fire of life.

As Goddess Mari I was known throughout the Holy Lands by many aspects of my name; In Egypt I was the Water Goddess Mer, In Northern Europe I was Maerin wife of Thor, In Saxon mythology Wudu-Maer, To the Hindus Mari-Yamn, To the Celts Maid Marian, In Babyloian traditions I am called Tiamat and in Israel I was Asherah/Mari consort to Yahew. It is no wonder that my people named their daughters in my honor and testament is found throughout all the Holy Scriptures in the abundance of women named Mary. While the myths changed to fulfill the needs of the people I am at the core of all told, Goddess Mari.

High Priestess Invocation

Magdalene, wife of Jesus, Mother Mary Queen of Heaven, Mari Goddess of the Holy Lands and the Great Temple of Jerusalem, we call forth your memory. We have prepared altar and ritual to celebrate your truth. In our hearts we cast away the lies and suppression the false religions choose to feed the masses. We are at once consort, mother, sister, wife as you were in the stories of old. We tend the sacred mysteries that are your blood and we hold strong the truth of Mother Mary today that she not be forgotten. Thou art Goddess Mother Mary, Trinity of those who would speak the name God, Jesus and Holy Ghost and thou art Goddess Mari of Basque. Thou art our Sacred Goddess and Mother. Blessed Be.

High Priestess

Tonight on the Blue Moon a history lesson, my story as Mari of Basque transcended into Mother Mary of your modern world.

Goddess Mari’s Story

Open conversation of Mother Mary

Survivalists have a phrase that they call the big three or sometimes even the rule of three. It is a rule of thumb about surviving. You can live 30 days without Food, Three days without water, and three minutes without air. For almost every human this is the case. We all know that three is a sacred number. The Triple Goddess, the Christian Trinity, there are so many other examples. Well just as the Survivalist’s rule of three states that we cannot live without certain primal needs neither can we live without Goddess. Call her Goddess or The Christian God, Buddha or Allah or deny her existence all together, she is there. Tonight I ask of you all to take within you the big three. Three aspects of Mari that happen to follow the primal needs that we all desire, crave and cannot live without. In ancient Basque she was considered the goddess of Earth, Sea, and Air. This is how we claim her tonight as well.

MMC will prepare themselves first by taking communion of each other just like when the greeters smudge each other.

My Daughters I call you. Climb, walk, and crawl into my caves. Explore the depths of my temples. Examine the earth below your feet and the rock above. Feel my arms around you as the earth embracing you.

My Daughters I call you. Swim, bathe and soak in my waters. Explore the life that is created there. Examine the wetness of drink and the quench it provides. Taste my love for you as I rid you of your thirst.

My Daughters I call you. Breathe, sing and laugh within my heavens. Explore with the wind. Examine the scents brought to you on my breath. Smell the perfume of the universe.

At this time all are invited to get up and visit with the Maiden (sky), Mother (Sea), and Crone (Earth). Those who have been assigned these parts will have words to say to each and the visitor will have responses to their words. This may look like chaos but everyone calling out their intentions at their turn and all at once will raise power.

Come to me my friend, My friend in Goddess, Breathe in the sweetness of the heavens and speak your claim with me. (spray mist and breathe deep)
I am the heavens
I am the sky
I breathe life into the world
I am Goddess

Come to me my sister, My Sister in Goddess, Drink of me and know yourself. The blood in your veins is mine as well as your own claim it with me now. (Drink concoction and enjoy)
I am the elixir
I am the Sea
In my waters the world is quenched
I am Goddess

Come to me my daughter, My child in Goddess. Eat the gifts that spring from my harvests. Devour of the flesh of my abundance and speak your claim with me. (eat of cake or other edible and savor it)
I am the Earth
I am the stones
In my dark caves the secret is safe within I am Goddess.

Our craft of the night shall be crucifixes made from the Yule tree

High Priestess

Gracious Goddess as we close our circle we ask that our path always be in your light.
